Welcome to WJ French & Son. We are a well established family shoe shop based in Southampton specialising in quality footware, fitting, repairs and alterations. We carry half sizes and width fittings and have one of the largest stocks in the country available to men, women and children.

W.J. French and Son was founded in 1803 by Francis French and now directed by Richard French. The shop remains traditional to date even though we have expanded greatly over the years. We have our own fully operational workshop for repairs and alterations.

With over forty different brands in stock including Amalfi, Barker, Caprice, Cheaney, Churches, Ecco, Edward Green, Emotion, Gabor, Loake, Sebago, Stemar and Van Dal. You will find our staff helpful and friendly and trained beyond expectation in shoe fitting and anatomy.

We are members of the IFRA (Independent Footware Retailers Association) and The Society of Shoefitters.
